72 Hour Lost Weekend

Watch the video forming the centrepiece of the weekend of performances at the former Braun factory

A key element of the Woman in the Machine project was the installation of commissioned and invited artworks at the former Braun factory in Carlow. Performers too were invited to create work. The original intention was for the interior of the building to be open to the public who would have been able to experience the DJs, live music, visual, performing and sonic art all together in this giant landmark over the course of a weekend. We were able to turn up the bass and light the shadows to hint at what could have been through the creation of this film, 72 Hour Lost Weekend. The film formed the centrepiece of the weekend of performances at the former Braun factory from 11-13 June 2021.

Woman in the Machine, co-created by VISUAL and Carlow Arts Festival, unfolds through film, exhibitions, sound works, light installations, digital native events, a 360 virtual exhibition space, performances, talks and community engagement projects created in response to Carlow's landmark former Braun site and women working at the intersections of art, science and digital media.

Woman in the Machine is part of Carlow Arts Festival 2021, VISUAL’s Summer Programme and presented as part of Brightening Air | Coiscéim Coiligh, a nationwide, ten-day season of arts experiences brought to you by the Arts Council.
