Shane Byrne

Shane Michael Byrne is an actor and proud Carlow man. He is a founding member of KCAT Art Centre’s Equinox Theatre Company. He has has devised, co-created and performed in all of their shows to date including The M House (Dublin Theatre Festival 2018); Memory Box (National Tour 2016) and (The Making of) The Frogs After Aristophanes (Dublin Fringe Festival 2012). He has also performed in other shows from including The Big Chapel X (Asylum Productions, Kilkenny Arts Festival, Abbey Theatre 2019); The Bridge Street Project (Asylum Productions, Callan Workhouse Union, Trasna Productions 2015) and Six by Sundown (Asylum Productions 2008); Maze and Breaking the Mould (Shadowbox Theatre Co.)

Shane will use his residency to develop his solo practice. This ground-breaking residency will be the first time that a theatre artist with ID has embarked in a fully-fledged Artist in Residence programme at a significant arts organisation in Ireland. Shane will, in collaboration with other significant Irish theatre artists (e.g. Raymond Keane, Cian Kinsella among others), explore the intersection between physical theatre and physical comedy.
