Join Aine Byrne for a flag making workshop to create flags for your own entirely new world. You can march with your flag in the Carnival parade through Carlow Town at 1.30pm!
If you could create a whole new world… what would it be?
What would the weather be like?
How many people would live there?
What kind of pets would people have?
What kind of clothes would people wear?
What kind of houses would people live in?
What kinds of jobs would people work in?
Would it be on this planet, or on a different one?
What kind of rules would you enforce?
How would you enforce them?
Who would be in charge?
This workshop was inspired by the work of Sinéad Kennedy:
Sinéad Kennedy is a musician, radio broadcaster, and visual artist. She likes to put on shows in unusual venues, like one time she played music on a raft on a swimming pool in her friend’s house in Sligo, or another time she played music in a tunnel underneath a mountain in Iceland. She likes listening to all kinds of music, and every Wednesday she broadcasts some of her favourite music on the radio. She invented a world called Grand Land and she spends a lot of time imagining what kind of people live there and what they get up to. She makes flags, tapestries, comics and zines to tell stories about the people of Grand Land.
