Plant Clinic : A Drawing and Collage Workshop

This drawing and collage workshop will explore our relationship with and disconnect from the natural world. Ida will focus on plants, introduce drawing texhniques and reflect on the excess of consumerism which has led to our current ecological crisis.
Through conversations around the themes raised above, participants will learn to sketch the plants growing in the greenhouse located on VISUAL's grounds and create their own hybrid plant on paper using pencils, paint, collage and recycled materials.
Please bring some of your own recycled materials on the day, all other materials will be provided.

Ida Mitrani is a multidisciplinary artist and art educator currently living in the Beara peninsula, in West Cork.
She received the Arts Council Agility award 2022, Dublin Arts Office residential space 2022, and the Arts for Health residency award at Uillinn West Cork Arts Center in 2021.
She is part of the ‘Contemporary Drawing Meets Stem’ project (Drawbridge - MIT/Crawford Art College) which explores and promotes drawing methods within the STEM areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through a series of informational videos. Group exhibitions include 'With Other Matter' in Roscommon Arts Center, ‘Woman in the Machine’ in Visual Carlow, and in GOMA, Waterford.
Her work is included in a number of publications and is now part of the Crawford MAAP Graduate Collection, the public collection in the National Library in Dublin, the National Archives of Ireland, and the Arts Office in Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown.
