Transition Year Work Experience Now Open for Applications

First intake: Tuesday 5th September. Second intake: Friday 15th September 2023 | 12 midnight

Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes at an arts centre?

Would you like to find out more about how galleries and theatres work, to decide if a career in the arts is for you?

Would you like to develop your own public event at VISUAL with a group of peers?

Then apply for VISUAL Collective, VISUAL’s transition year work experience programme. You will be brought behind the scenes at VISUAL, meet with artists, theatre makers, performers, technicians and more. You will get tickets to live events at VISUAL and become familiar with everything that goes on when doors are open to the public and when we’re closed. Our invited guests (artists, performers, theatre makers, writers etc...) will talk about how they developed their careers in the arts.

You will work as a group to develop a public exhibition and event in December 2023. You will advise us about what future transition years would want from a work experience programme. The event will showcase work you make throughout the programme.

How to Apply

Write to us, or send a video telling us three sentences about yourself and three sentences about why you would like to join the programme. Be as creative as you like!

Make sure to include your full name, school name, email address and phone number.

Send your application to Clare Breen learning@visualcarlow.ie before midnight on the 5th of September or a second intake will be accepted by 15th of September. Early applications will be notified by 8th of September (apply early for the best chance of being accepted).
