Book TicketsFood production, farming and climate change are under the spotlight as part of a thought-provoking and exciting new sound and visual art project presented for the first time in a major commissioned solo exhibition at The Douglas Hyde Gallery of Contemporary Art before embarking on a tour around key parts of rural Ireland.
The Quickening is the culmination of three years of research including a sculptural planting, PLOT at VISUAL Carlow and feasts held under the banner ‘Sustainment Experiments.’
The film will be presented in six rural locations during the Walls & Halls Tour of farms, barns and community halls in the South East of rural Ireland from 75 April to 9 May and each screening event includes a respondent and Q&A session.
In partnership with VISUAL, the Carlow screening will be hosted by the Carlow Community Environmental Network (CCEN) at Rathanna Community Hall on Thursday 18 April at 7pm. The event is supported by Carlow Arts Office and a free newspaper, The Quickening, will be available at the screening. Light refreshments will be served.
The Quickening project was made with the generous support of the Arts Council through Project and Bursary Awards (2022/2023).
