Book Tickets‘I am not a child; I am nearly thirteen!’ - Alice
Following on from their successful production ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ Carlow Institute presents ‘ALICE,’ adapted from Lewis Carroll’s much beloved tales of Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.
The Performing Arts students breathe new life into some of the most well-known characters in English literature: The White Rabbit, The Mad Hatter, and the bossiest of all, The Queen of Hearts.
In this version, Alice is 12 and ½ years of age. She is neither a child nor a teenager. Caught in the in-between, Alice falls asleep to the frustrations of the day to wake in a world, a world she cannot leave, where everybody else gets to make the decisions, confuse her, and boss her. She is not happy! After all, she is nearly thirteen.
How will she regain her footing and take control of who she is?
Come and see!
Director Anna Galligan says ‘Alice in Wonderland has seen many adaptations from Disney to Burton. We have remained true to Lewis Carroll’s original books of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. The main change is Alice is now 12 and ½ years of age. It is when we begin to leave childhood and enter our teenage years. This production allows the Performing Arts students to put all their skills they have learned throughout the year to good use. This is a timeless story that will appeal to all.’
