Book TicketsThis season VISUAL offers tours of three exhibitions for leaving cert students responding to the new leaving cert curriculum. These visits will help to answer three main questions that are important to the new Visual Studies framework exploring: What was created? How was it created? Why was it created?
Exhibitions include: The Palpable Bump at the Bridge of the Nose, an exhibition of paintings from Elizabeth Cope’s life, Clíodhna Timoney’s exhibition Flashes of Light; and Future Light from Distant Stars, an outdoor public and socially engaged sculpture by David Beattie. We can also offer a tour of public sculptures on the grounds of VISUAL by Eileen MacDonagh and Deirdre O’Mahony.
Students will participate in a tour of the exhibitions and a guided drawing workshop in the galleries. There will be time and space to make drawings, reflect on student’s chosen artworks and all students will receive take-home resources to continue their work in the classroom. All schools will have access to our new video series of artists interviewed in their studios, talking about their practice and process. This is a great way to tackle the new Visual Studies framework.
Important note: Elizabeth Cope's exhibition contains depictions of frank nudity. If you would like more information about this please contact learning curator Clare Breen: learning@visualcarlow.ie
