Light Therapy has been created to help combat the effects of Seasonal Affective Depression and winter blues associated with the lack of light experienced in the northern hemisphere at this time of year. The room will also function as a space where individuals and groups can gather to consider what a place like VISUAL, an arts centre, means for a community and make suggestions for the future. This is the fourth iteration of Light Therapy. it was originally produced for the Moderna Museet, Stockholm in 1999.
The VISUAL Cookie
This is a return to Carlow for Apolonija Šušteršič. In 2002 the artist produced ‘The Simulation Café’ a communication model designed to encourage conversation locally about art production in Carlow. ‘The Simulation Café’ was open in the town for 6 weeks, hosting events and a cookie competition which invited participants to create a sweet treat for the prospective arts centre café. These activities were curated by Annie Fletcher and part of an advance programme to the opening of VISUAL in 2009. For this season we have introduced the VISUAL Cookie at Lennons.
