Join artist Mary Conroy to experiment with making your own paper from scratch using a variety of materials including plants foraged from the grounds of Carlow College.
Use waste paper and other materials to create your own paper artworks. This workshop will demonstrate the process of turning waste office paper into a pulp base that can be used to make sheets of unique handmade paper and for pulp painting. No experience necessary.
Artist Bio
Mary Conroy is a socially engaged artist and educator. She holds an B. Des. in Ceramics and MA in Social Practice. Her practice investigates human and non-human ecologies within specific environments through socially engaged practice, including participation, collaboration and intervention. Materiality and material investigation are an integral part of her work as an artist.
Recent projects include: Wilderland, a pioneering public art and collaborative conservation initiative focused on biodiversity restoration and exploring our relationship to nature in Mayo and A Magic Moving Living Thing, with the Butler Gallery, Kilkenny, investigating the more than human history of the River Nore.
