DIY Art and Drama Summer Camp 2026
An action packed drama and art summer camp for young people aged 8 - 14 years
1 of 9
Join us for our brilliant Summer Camp; five full days of creativity, fun, drama and art for 8 - 14 year olds in VISUAL and the George Bernard Shaw Theatre. Experience drama and visual art with our professional artists and theatre makers. This is an opportunity to make, mess and meet new people. The week will end with a public exhibition and performance of work made during the Summer Camp at VISUAL, so friends and family can join us in celebrating each participant's creativity.
You will learn new art techniques, practice connecting ideas together, make costumes, set a scavenger hunt, grow confidence in storytelling, develop stage skills and collaborate with other creative young people!
Participants will be grouped according to age. Each day will be divided into morning and afternoon theatre and art sessions with a break for a packed lunch.
Numbers are limited so please book your place to avoid disappointment.
The DIY Art and Drama Summer Camp will be fully supervised by the team at VISUAL. Facilitators are professional artists and theatre makers:
Mary Jo Gilligan is an artist and facilitator at VISUAL. She studied sculpture through a Fine Art BA at NCAD and holds an MA in Social Sculpture from Oxford Brookes University. She is very interested in the values we hold and that shape us, how imagination is both a huge inner space and a superpower for creative action in the world and how we tune into each other and our built and natural environments. She increasingly puts her creative energy into workshops and other learning contexts to explore art making and imagination with other people.
Ursula McGinn is a theatre director and facilitator who is experienced working with adults, children, and young people. She has excellent communication skills and an approach to directing and facilitation informed by years of working across every area of theatre. Ursula is the Artistic Director for Bombinate Theatre. Bombinate Theatre is an award-winning company, creating plays and workshops for families and young audiences.
