The Lecture will be delivered by Colm Tóibín, Laureate for Irish Fiction.
This significant event will feature Tóibín offering a reflection on the visual artists who have influenced him. With contributions from artists Robert Armstrong and Mary McIntyre, the lecture promises to offer an insight into the intersection of visual art and literature through the lens of one of Ireland’s foremost writers.

About the Laureate for Irish Fiction
Colm Tóibín is the third Laureate for Irish Fiction and was awarded the honour by the Arts Council in 2022. This is his third annual lecture in his role as Laureate. The Laureate for Irish Fiction promotes Irish literature nationally and internationally and encourages the public to engage with high quality Irish fiction.
Colm Tóibín is the author of eleven novels, including The Master, Brooklyn, The Magician and Long Island, and two collections of short stories and many works of non-fiction. He has been three times shortlisted for the Booker Prize. In 2021 he was awarded the David Cohen Prize for Literature. Tóibín was appointed the Laureate for Irish Fiction 2022-2024.
Robert Armstrong Born in Gorey, Co. Wexford, Robert Armstrong studied at NCAD, he was a founder member of the Temple Bar Gallery and Studios and Head of the Department of Fine Art Painting at NCAD until 2018. He has since exhibited extensively and exhibits regularly with the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Dublin and around the country.
Mary McIntyre is an artist who uses photography. She is a Reader in Fine Art at the University of Ulster at Belfast.[1] Her work has been exhibited at international exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale, 2005.
