Brothers Brían and Diarmuid Mac Gloinn, hailing from Carlow in southeast Ireland, grew up playing music together before moving to Dublin in 2012, where they became central figures in the city’s folk and live session scene. Their rise began in 2014 after music filmmaker Myles O’Reilly featured them in his Arbutus Yarns series, followed by a pivotal performance with Glen Hansard at Electric Picnic in 2015 that led to a European tour. Their debut EP Rose & Briar (2015) and self-titled album Ye Vagabonds (2017) earned widespread acclaim for their rich harmonies and blend of traditional and contemporary folk influences.

Their follow-up album The Hare’s Lament (2019) brought them major recognition, winning multiple BBC and RTÉ Radio One Folk Awards, including Best Group and Best Album. Continuing their success, they released the I’m A Rover / The Bothy Boys EP in 2020, again sweeping the RTÉ Folk Awards. Their latest album, Nine Waves (2022), recorded at Hellfire Studios in the Dublin Mountains and produced by John “Spud” Murphy, features both original and traditional material performed with a range of collaborators, showcasing the brothers’ signature harmonies and instrumental depth.
