For rural primary school students in Carlow and the South East region
11 Feb - 17 Jun 2025 | Tuesdays
Admission: Free
Book TicketsThis season we are offering a limited number of free workshops and tours of VISUAL and the George Bernard Shaw Theatre.
This is a unique opportunity to see behind the scenes of a working theatre, while also getting the chance to perform on the stage, visit the galleries and participate in artist-led workshops. The goal is that students will not only have fun, but also learn about what happens in an arts centre and develop an understanding of the role of the arts in the community.
Workshops are best suited to students in 2nd – 6th classes. The visit involves two 90-minute workshops of Visual Arts and Theatre activities: Students will break into two groups (of 30 max each) and take turns in participating in both workshops:
- 9:50am – Classes arrive and are split into 2 groups
- 10 – 11:30am – Group A: Gallery tour and visual art workshop, Group B: Theatre tour and theatre games workshop
- 11:30 – 12pm – Break for lunch
- 12:00 – 1:30pm – Group B: Gallery tour and art workshop, Group A: Theatre tour and theatre games workshop
A maximum of 60 students can participate. Teachers must remain present for the duration of the workshops.
