Families with very young children under six years with physical disabilities are invited to engage in a practical multi-sensory visual art workshop designed for them by early years artist Helen Barry in collaboration with early years educator Audrey Fagan and the children attending the Central Remedial Clinic School. This workshop invites the children and their families to explore the world of ‘Under The Sea’ through paint, colour, mark making, movement, music and sound. A specialised care team will support families to engage in all elements of the morning.
Engagements are FREE of charge. The engagements are aimed at children up to 6 years with a physical disability as their primary need. Siblings are welcome but parents need to be aware that the engagement will not focus on the sibling.
There will be two workshops, each lasting 2 hours. 10am - 12pm and 1pm - 3pm. There is a limited group size so please get in contact with Box Office to book your place. Call 059 917 2400 or email boxoffice@visualcarlow.ie.
About ART-icle 12:
ART-icle 12 is a creative initiative dedicated to empowering very young children with disabilities, helping them find their voice, express their views, and be heard by responsive adults. This arts-based programme brings weekly, long-term creative sessions to early years students at the Central Remedial Clinic School, offering a child-centered, multi-sensory experience across various art forms.
At the core of ART-icle 12 is a commitment to child-led exploration, where children have the freedom to guide their creative journeys. Through these activities, they engage with new, interactive sculptural artworks that foster movement-based (kinaesthetic) learning, encouraging growth, expression, and self-discovery.
ART-icle 12 is proudly funded by the Arts Council of Ireland in partnership with the Central Remedial Clinic School, the National Concert Hall, the Hugh Lane Gallery, DLRCC Arts Office, An Táin Arts Centre Dundalk, Visual Carlow and Swift Cultural Centre Trim.
