Learning - VISUAL

VISUAL Centre of Contemporary Art &
The George Bernard Shaw Theatre

We believe that the arts have a vital role to play in the region - culturally, socially and economically.

Art enriches lives, opens the doors to imagination and allows for expression and appreciation of many different voices.

We have a year-round learning programme aimed at different age groups/audiences. It includes Parent and Toddler art classes, Family Art Workshops, Primary School Tours and workshops, Senior Cycle in-depth workshops, masterclasses, adult workshops, social events and Artist’s talks.

We aim to develop understanding and awareness of the value, meaning and relevance of the arts in new audiences, and to more deeply engage existing audiences in the themes and conversations of the exhibition seasons. We do this through having a space within the gallery for exploring the exhibition subject in more detail.

Learning Partnerships

We partner with a number of different education bodies, including the Institute of Technology, Carlow, Carlow College and Carlow Education and Training Board, across activities including work placements, in-depth artistic and research projects, conferences and symposia. We also facilitate workshops and classes for students in the theatre and galleries when the building is closed to the public.
