Schools and Education
VISUAL is committed to developing long-term partnerships with schools and teachers in the region.
Art is a tool to empower in the classroom. It is also about process of making things, free experimentation, exploring materials and self-directed discovery. Art can help children and young people to think through ideas in an expanded way and to bring the whole body into their learning. It teaches us all to be inquisitive, persistent, imaginative, disciplined and collaborative.
Primary School Tours
Our learning team of artists will bring your class on a tour through this season’s exhibitions. After the tour they lead art workshops. During tours and workshops in the galleries children engage in imaginative, process-based creativity that offers fulfilment of all of the broad objectives of the Art Curriculum.
When: Workshops take place weekly from Tuesdays – Thursdays
Times: 90 minutes (10am or 12:30pm)
Cost: €50 per session, for up to 30 students
Tours and workshops can be tailored for junior infants up to third level.
If your class or school has particular requirements, from access needs to enquiries about class sizes, please don’t hesitate to contact us to chat about your needs. Clare Breen is VISUAL's Learning Curator.
Leaving Certificate Tours
These visits specifically address the Leaving Cert Gallery Appreciation Question and are an excellent addition to the new Leaving Cert video resources. Artists can answer student questions and go in depth into an area of contemporary art you wish to explore in more detail (eg. the role of the curator/ digital resources in galleries or an aspect of the gallery appreciation question of your choice).
