Book TicketsSo This Is Christmas is the latest documentary from award-winning Irish filmmaker Ken Wardrop (His & Hers). This thoughtful, emotional film looks at the lead-up to Christmas from the perspective of five different individuals & families from the Midlands - from a single mother trying to make ends meet, to an older woman facing the prospect of another Christmas alone.
You’ll struggle to find a more moving and honest film about the realities of the festive season. Wardrop - with his trademark mix of empathy and warm humour - explores the emotional, financial and social challenges of Christmas. These stories are heartbreaking and tinged with tragedy, but the film also emphasises the moments of joy, kindness and resilience experienced on the way to Christmas Day.
★★★★★ “Lands like a punch to the gut... heartbreaking and heartwarming in equal measure” - Sarah McIntyre, RTÉ
★★★★★ “Sometimes Wardrop’s film is not an easy watch, but the honesty of his subjects and the respect with which he treats their stories, make this documentary utterly compelling” - Paul Whitington, Irish Independent
