Nora
A special Tuesday screening for Bloomsday. This historical drama focuses on the relationship between Nora Barnacle and a young James Joyce.
Pat Murphy’s vivid historical drama focuses on the relationship between Nora Barnacle (Susan Lynch) and a young James Joyce (Ewan McGregor). After meeting in Dublin, they start a passionate romance and depart Ireland to start a life in Italy together. Their relationship is frequently tested by Joyce’s artistic frustrations and his suspicions of infidelity, but strong-willed Nora proves a source of both inspiration and stability amid the often heightened emotions. Over 25 years on from its initial release, Murphy’s provocative storytelling instincts and strikingly feminist perspective ensures Nora remains a captivating and unique work.
