Amber’s One Million Stars Ireland project is an inclusive community arts project connecting communities across Ireland in solidarity against domestic abuse and all forms of violence. Each eight-point star represents light, hope and solidarity against domestic, sexual and gender based violence, promoting our project’s eight points of healthy love within relationships. Stars are curated into public star installations spreading awareness and hope for a future free from violence and abuse for all in our community. This Art for Activism project brings people together to foster social change. There are now star weavers across 22 counties who have already woven over 200,000 stars to end violence in Ireland.

“There are many wellbeing aspects to the star weaving workshops. Working with our hands and focusing on “making” can take our minds of issues that are causing us anxiety. The workshops help create moments of calm in a safe environment. The project fosters a sense of connection to a wider community, working towards a shared goal and studies in neuroscience shows us that this type of human connection increases resilience and enhances self-esteem.” says Siobhan McQuillan art therapist and Project Lead Ambers One Million Stars Ireland.

This workshop series has been made possible by the support and funding of the Kilkenny and Carlow ETB REACH fund. Participants must be over 18. Booking is essential.
