Week 1 - Queer Quilting
Utilizing premade fabric squares and scrap fabrics, participants will be guided in creating queer-centric fabric pieces that will be joined together into a collaborative queer quilt of sorts. No sewing experience needed! Savvy seamstresses are encouraged to bring their own needle & thread, but needles & thread will be provided on the day. Fabric glue is also an option for those who can't hand-sew.
Week 2 - Stick and Poke fruit workshop
CĂșan & Rhys will facilitate a mindful DIY fruit tattoo workshop. Stick-and-poke tattooing has been a long-standing practice at the fringes of queer life. Mark-making has often created space for reclaiming our fruity bodies. In this workshop, LGBTQ+ people and friends will learn how to embed ink in the skin of fruits, drawing on themes of joy and solidarity. All materials will be provided. This is an over-18s workshop for all abilities and interests.
Week 3 - Welcome to the school of Capcut!
Rhys & CĂșan will assist participants in creating a lo-fi, 2-5 minute short film. Participants will be guided through the process of storyboarding, script development, filming and editing (in an accessible way - all shot on their own phones.) Think cheesy 80's slasher meets student short film made in the parish basement - quick, campy and fun!
Participants are welcome to join one, two or all three workshops. Workshops are free of charge, but sign up is necessary as spaces are limited.
These workshops are for individuals 18+.
